About The Position

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is seeking a Senior Director of IT, SAP to lead the strategic technology roadmap for their SAP landscape. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring active participation in configuration, design, and testing, not just people management. The role involves managing people, projects, system migrations, and third-party system integrations. Responsibilities include mentoring team members, writing and reviewing design documents and functional specifications, making complex configuration changes, and building relationships with technology partners. The company is currently on SAP ECC 6.0 and planning an upgrade to S/4.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or a related field.
  • 12+ years SAP Technical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience managing a team.
  • Strong organizational skill with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach — solving problems with fellow IT team members with respect, trust, honesty, and professionalism, and contributing to a positive, engaged workplace.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Stay hands-on: configure, write and review technical specs, debug and test.
  • Mentor the team by sharing deep SAP expertise.
  • Document IT processes and designs in the IT Wiki.
  • Manage vendor relationships and establish/maintain relationships with external technology partners.
  • Lead IT engineers (analysts/configurators) and developers, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery and supporting their growth.
  • Prioritize development requests in partnership with the development manager and key business stakeholders.
  • Interact regularly with members of Fender's Executive and Leadership Teams.
  • Run multiple projects concurrently, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of valuable work.
  • Optimize the SAP landscape by maximizing development throughput and minimizing disruption risk.
  • Continuously evaluate new tools and technologies, including AI, for potential benefits.
  • Understand and articulate Fender’s key SAP integration points across SD, PP, MM, and FI modules.
  • Own SAP maintenance in partnership with the Development Manager, including OS and kernel patching, OSS notes and support pack implementation, system refreshes, data archiving, SDK updates, HA/DR testing, and evaluation of SAP EWA reports.
