About The Position

Emory University is seeking a Senior Director of Facility Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations of business unit-facing facility operations. This role is crucial in ensuring students, faculty, and staff have a positive facilities experience. The position involves managing various functional areas including operation and maintenance, auxiliary services, exteriors, building residential services, and fire safety operations. The Senior Director will also be responsible for negotiating contracts related to safety, environmental, and maintenance solutions, overseeing all operating budgets, and managing maintenance, rehabilitation, and repair activities. This role directly supervises a staff of six, with indirect supervision of approximately 500 employees across three shifts, as some operations run 24/7. The position requires addressing all emergency situations within the facilities area and assisting the Associate Vice President with projects, staffing, and organizational structure adjustments. The Senior Director will interact with internal and external customers, make presentations, and represent Campus Services on university committees.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Ten years of experience in building operations and maintenance.
  • Progressive, demonstrated management/supervisory experience.
  • A working knowledge of capital construction and federal, state, and local building codes.

  • Responsible for addressing all emergency situations arising in the facilities area.
  • Assists the Associate Vice President with projects, allocating staffing levels, and organizational structure to meet changing conditions.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers and makes presentations to departments and campus constituents on related topics.
  • Represents Campus Services on university committees.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as required.
