About The Position

ŌURA is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the Women’s Health engineering organization. The role is responsible for turning the company’s Women’s Health ambitions into trusted, high-impact consumer experiences and advancing meaningful outcomes for members across important life stages and conditions. The successful candidate will combine product-minded engineering leadership with delivery of key initiatives and transformation of software development through AI-native and agentic workflows. The Senior Director will partner with Product, Design, Science, Data Science, Clinical, Regulatory, and other functions to shape engineering strategy, the organization, its operating model, and the leadership system needed to build excellent products at scale. This is a remote US role, with a slight preference for candidates based in San Francisco, New York, or Boston. Candidates residing in Alaska, Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wisconsin are not being considered.

Requirements

  • 10–15 years of experience building software products, ideally including 5 or more years in leadership.
  • Track record of shipping consumer software that created meaningful, measurable impact for users or members.
  • Experience building and scaling a strong product-building organization, including hiring and developing leaders and managing through managers.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation—such as changes to structures, operating models, culture, or ways of working—while maintaining delivery.
  • Clear, practical perspective on building a successful software organization in the age of AI and agents.
  • Excellent people leadership skills, including coaching, feedback, performance management, talent development, and inclusive leadership.
  • Strong technical and product judgment, with sufficient depth to make sound trade-offs involving architecture, platform, data, quality, reliability, privacy, and speed.
  • Genuine interest in Women’s Health and motivation to learn the domain deeply and serve members with empathy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Women’s Health, reproductive health, menopause, postpartum, fertility, or adjacent health domains.
  • Experience with regulated, clinically adjacent, or high-trust consumer products.
  • Experience with wearables, connected devices, mobile products, or longitudinal health data.
  • Experience leading AI-enabled product development or AI-native engineering transformation.
  • Experience leading distributed, international, or cross-time-zone organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Women’s Health software engineering organization through engineering managers, directors, and key technical leaders.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Science, Data Science, Clinical, and Regulatory leaders to translate member needs and product strategy into a coherent, high-quality roadmap.
  • Ship the highest-priority initiatives and ensure they advance member outcomes, not just delivery milestones.
  • Build an organization that consistently ships excellent consumer software with measurable member impact by clarifying team ownership, architecture, dependencies, decision-making, and priorities.
  • Lead organizational transformation while maintaining delivery momentum and team health.
  • Set and reinforce a high performance bar across Engineering and the broader Women’s Health organization, covering outcomes, technical quality, execution, collaboration, and leadership.
  • Define and implement an AI-native approach to product development and software engineering, including practical use of AI and agents, quality guardrails, and measurable outcomes.
  • Build a strong leadership bench through hiring, coaching, feedback, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Represent Engineering in senior cross-functional planning and help make sound trade-offs among speed, quality, trust, and long-term leverage.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity packages.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, and mental health resources.
  • An Ōura Ring and employee discounts for friends and family.
  • 20 days of paid time off, 13 paid holidays, and 8 days of flexible wellness time off.
  • Paid sick leave and parental leave.
