About The Position

This senior individual-contributor role reports to the Senior Director of Engineering & Architecture and turns engineering priorities into working tools and automated workflows that support delivery of customer-facing products. The work is approximately 40% development infrastructure and DevOps, 40% AI agents and orchestration, 10% integrations and reporting, and 10% stakeholder engagement and Scrum facilitation. Initial priorities include establishing a new DevOps environment and implementing multi-agent workflows that execute approved backlog items and submit code through pull requests for human review. The core requirement is demonstrated ability to build and operate effective engineering automation, with deep experience in automation, the software development lifecycle, CI/CD, and AI agent orchestration. The role will build and operate the development and DevOps platform, initially using Azure DevOps Server, and establish CI/CD, infrastructure automation, engineering tooling, and operational practices across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. It will evaluate and integrate AI agent tools and orchestration frameworks; build workflows for agents to execute approved work; deploy and operate cloud and local model inference services; and ensure agent-generated changes are traceable and submitted for human review. The position also supports product delivery through custom integrations, production support, operational ownership, stakeholder partnership, Scrum facilitation, and reporting. The role owns engineering software and automation while IT Services owns infrastructure patching, routine monitoring, and SaaS application administration. Initial on-call support is expected, with coverage and escalation procedures to be established as SRE staff coverage develops. The position may participate in scheduled on-call coverage, which can include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel may be up to six weeks per year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. The role is remote for employees residing in the listed eligible states.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps Server, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Graph API, and enterprise system integration.
  • Experience establishing a new engineering platform and operating local GPU inference infrastructure.
  • Experience with government contracting organizations and CMMC or NIST-based security programs.
  • An active security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the development and DevOps platform, initially using Azure DevOps Server, within architecture and priorities established with the Senior Director.
  • Own source control, repository standards, build runners, artifact and package repositories, development tooling, and integrations across the engineering toolchain.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, quality and security checks, versioned artifacts, deployment approvals, release automation, and rollback.
  • Provision repeatable development, test, staging, and production environments using infrastructure as code and configuration automation across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployments.
  • Support Windows, Linux, and containerized workloads; automate engineer onboarding and environment setup; and coordinate platform access, workload identities, and secrets with IT Services.
  • Document platform architecture, operating procedures, and recovery steps; improve reliability and reduce recurring manual work and delivery bottlenecks.
  • Evaluate, select, integrate, and customize AI agent tools and orchestration frameworks, developing extensions and connectors where needed for Innovas workflows.
  • Implement agent workflows that read prioritized backlogs, gather requirements and repository context, decompose work, assign tasks, coordinate dependencies, and track execution.
  • Configure and develop agents for software development, testing, documentation, infrastructure automation, integrations, and approved business process automation.
  • Connect agents to development tools, approved data sources, and execution environments; manage task state, isolated workspaces, retries, failure handling, and traceability to backlog items.
  • Ensure agent-produced code is submitted through pull requests for human review with appropriate test results and supporting context, maintaining traceability from backlog item to proposed change.
  • Develop access controls, execution boundaries, human approval gates, and accountability for agent actions with the Senior Director and CTO.
  • Evaluate agent quality and task completion against acceptance criteria and refine workflows based on engineer feedback, failed runs, rework, and accepted-result cost.
  • Deploy and operate cloud and local model inference services, model gateways, and agent execution software across hybrid environments.
  • Benchmark and tune inference latency, throughput, concurrency, memory consumption, and operating cost.
  • Manage model configuration, versioning, routing, provider integrations, and controlled upgrades; validate model suitability for supported tasks and contexts.
  • Partner with IT Services on local inference hardware, hosting, capacity, and infrastructure maintenance while retaining engineering ownership of inference software and agent integrations.
  • Support customer-facing product delivery through engineering automation, agent workflows, deployment tooling, and custom integrations.
  • Build API connectors and integration workflows between products and internal business systems, including finance systems when required by product needs.
  • Develop internal-system integrations with business owners and IT Services; document data flows, failure handling, and support responsibilities.
  • Own engineering software and automation supporting development, releases, custom applications, custom integrations, and inference services.
  • Provide application and agent telemetry, diagnostics, alerts, and runbooks to support IT monitoring and escalation; investigate and resolve failures requiring changes to engineering-owned software or configuration.
  • Support production releases, rollback, and application recovery; participate in incident reviews and implement lasting fixes with engineers and IT Services.
  • Provide initial on-call support for engineering-owned services and prepare documentation, escalation procedures, and knowledge transfer for SRE staff as coverage is established.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand product needs, clarify requirements, identify automation opportunities, and demonstrate delivered capabilities.
  • Partner with the Senior Director and business stakeholders to curate and prioritize the backlog, documenting work items, dependencies, and acceptance criteria for engineers and AI agents.
  • Coordinate requirements approval by the Senior Director or CTO with business stakeholders and organize user acceptance testing and feedback.
  • Serve as Scrum Master by facilitating planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives; track impediments and dependencies, coordinate resolution, and communicate progress and delivery risks.
  • Improve delivery practices through practical process changes, useful automation, clear documentation, and support for adoption of new engineering tools and workflows.
  • Build reports, KPIs, and dashboards for operational health, engineering delivery, team performance, and AI agent performance.
