About The Position

Royal Bank of Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Delivery to lead the execution of the Loyalty and Digital Technology program. This strategic leadership role is responsible for delivering multiple high-impact initiatives spanning multiple digital journeys and complex loyalty partnership ecosystems - enhancing client value and positioning RBC as a best-in-class in Loyalty and Digital technology. The successful candidate will drive consistent, predictable delivery across multiple teams (both internal and external), while establishing organizational delivery excellence, managing complex financial and technical risks, and fostering innovation through emerging technologies like AI.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of program/portfolio delivery or project management experience
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing delivery teams and cross-functional initiatives
  • Strong experience with Agile methodologies and hybrid delivery models
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships at C-suite and VP levels
  • Excellent strategic planning, risk management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Delivery Directors, Program Managers and Scrum Masters, fostering a high-performing delivery culture
  • Establish and maintain consistent, predictable project delivery across all program initiatives through the use of standardized delivery framework.
  • Collaborate with Business and Product sponsors to clearly articulate yearly priorities at the appropriate level of detail to support accurate team sizing
  • Coordinate with Architecture, Development, and QA to assess work items and create high-level estimates
  • Translate work items into squad staffing needs, identifying required skills and resource levels to ensure squads can deliver commitments within budget
  • Collaborate with Product to build and track an execution roadmap that sequences work logically, considering business priorities and technical dependencies
  • Coordinate cross-project dependencies and prerequisites across the enterprise
  • Work with peers and stakeholders across business lines (Avion Rewards, RBC Offers, Link Loyalty) to develop integrated business architecture and roadmaps
  • Work closely with teams ensuring the proactive identification and mitigation of technical risks through timely completion of identified vulnerabilities
  • Act as an advocate for balancing IT risk elements into the backlog and drive definition of done standards that include operational resiliency, monitoring, and security
  • Ensure appropriate risk strategies are articulated in Archer and maintained in good standing
  • Partner with VP-level stakeholders across multiple LOBs to advise on business impacts of technical solutions
  • Monitor and track project-level financials to ensure continued alignment with approved budgets
  • Identify resource, scope, and timeline options when plans are at risk
  • Coordinate cross-project and cross-department resourcing within established timelines
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize program value delivery
  • Ensure technical and operational costs are factored into solution architecture decisions
  • Present regular program updates to Technology Executive(s) and Business SMT, ensuring transparency of issues, risks, and changes
  • Keep senior leadership and stakeholders informed of plan changes and risk mitigation strategies
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across lines of business and departments
  • Foster talent development and establish a strong delivery practice across the organization
  • Demonstrate measurable value delivery to the business
  • Champion adoption of AI and emerging technologies to streamline execution and improve team efficiency
  • Build and define operating models and governance structures for program sustainability
