The AP Curriculum and Assessment Team at College Board is seeking a Senior Director I, AP Life Science Generalist, Curriculum and Assessment. This role is responsible for preserving and improving the quality and validity of the AP Program’s core deliverables within the subject domain: the exam, the course curriculum, and the professional development content. The position involves item development and management, training and collaborating with subject-matter experts (SMEs), and ethically integrating AI technologies in assessment creation and review. The Senior Director will also train SMEs on assessment development protocols, translate between academics and technical experts, and collaborate to develop formative assessment materials. This role serves as a point of contact for committees and communities of subject-matter experts, responsible for the curriculum and assessment for AP Science/Life Science, and furthering the strategic growth of AP Science/Life Science globally. Additionally, there may be opportunities to present and speak with academic and membership audiences. Key responsibilities include: Assessment Development and Scoring (40-50%): Serving as an assessment leader for AP Science/Life Science, with primary responsibility for assessment development and final assessment approval. This includes developing and reviewing content, providing final program sign-off on test forms, and leveraging generative AI for content authoring and review. The role involves leading the development and management of assessment content and scoring materials, developing assessment forms aligned with approved curricula, and leading meetings with Test Development Committees. Training and supervising committee members and leading the successful scoring of student responses are also key components. Assessment Quality and Process (25-30%): Contributing to research and best practices in assessment, aligning on standards with colleagues, and providing functional leadership for cross-subject assessment workstreams. This includes providing training and mentoring to other Course Experts, developing efficiencies in item development, and leading initiatives to refine question task models and exam design. Monitoring exam validity, security, reliability, fairness, and quality, and collaborating to establish fair, reliable, and valid cut scores are also critical. Staff Development and Capacity Building (25-30%): Training and supporting course experts in assessment development practices, including quality, validity, fairness, and the use of generative AI. Mentoring team members in facilitating test development committees and working with external stakeholders. Course Development and Program Support (0-10%): Refining and improving the AP Science/Life Science Course Framework and collaborating with AP teams to support the development of new products for AP Biology and Environmental Science.
