We're looking for a Senior Director, ("Head of") Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) to lead RS's safety and environmental strategy. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving programs that ensure the safety of our people, the sustainability of our operations, and compliance with all regulatory standards. Reporting directly to the CEO, with a dotted line to the SVP of Operations, you will be the strategic driver of RS's safety culture and environmental stewardship across all manufacturing, corporate, and field operations. You will lead by example, building systems that prevent incidents, reduce risk, and reinforce safety as a core company value. Requirements

  • 15 or more years of progressive HSE leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or corporate-level role in manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • Proven success leading HSE programs across multiple U.S. and Canadian sites, with expertise in both countries' regulatory frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable U.S. federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, including those specific to Utah and Texas, as well as Canadian federal and provincial HSE laws and standards, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) in Ontario and OHS.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and sustaining a strong safety culture across diverse and growing organizations.
  • Experience driving HSE performance improvements during periods of organizational change, scale-up, or new facility ramp-up.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and ability to travel to Canada as needed (must meet cross-border travel eligibility requirements).

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), or equivalent are a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute RS's enterprise-wide HSE strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, values, and operational priorities.
  • Serve as the principal advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team on all matters related to safety, health, and environmental performance.
  • Establish consistent HSE objectives, KPIs, and accountability mechanisms across all manufacturing and corporate locations.
  • Build scalable systems and processes that support the company's rapid growth and operational expansion across borders.
  • Lead and oversee HSE programs and HSE managers at all RS facilities (currently including Humble, Texas; St. George, Utah; and Tilbury, Ontario), ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and industry requirements in both the U.S. and Canada.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulations, as well as Canadian provincial and federal safety and environmental legislation.
  • Ensure regulatory reporting, inspections, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Evaluate and harmonize site-level practices, ensuring consistent HSE performance and culture across all locations.
  • Lead and standardize risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations across facilities.
  • Identify systemic risks and drive corrective and preventive actions that reduce exposure and strengthen resilience.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through communication, employee engagement, and visible leadership commitment.
  • Integrate environmental and sustainability initiatives into operational decision-making.
  • Oversee environmental management systems and compliance with ISO 14001 and related standards.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Development, and Operations to embed environmental responsibility into design and production.
  • Drive reporting and transparency on environmental performance metrics and sustainability targets.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing HSE team capable of executing strategies across multiple sites and jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, HR, Engineering, and Legal to align compliance, training, and communication programs.
  • Represent RS with external agencies, auditors, and customers on HSE matters, maintaining the company's reputation for integrity and compliance excellence.
