About The Position

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization with an annual revenue of $20 million dedicated to increasing the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. The Sr Director, Fund Development serves as the senior fundraising and revenue-generation leader for the organization and is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of NSBE’s annual revenue strategy and fundraising operations. This leadership role is accountable for driving diversified revenue growth across corporate partnerships, sponsorships, philanthropic giving, grants, strategic partnerships, and new business opportunities to support organizational sustainability and growth. The Sr Director, Fund Development is responsible for ensuring the organization’s annual revenue budget is achieved and maintained through strategic pipeline development, donor stewardship, corporate relationship management, and revenue forecasting. This position carries an individual annual revenue goal of at least $2.3 million, while also leading the broader Fund Development team toward achieving departmental and organizational revenue targets. The Sr. Director will bring an established portfolio of corporate, philanthropic, and/or foundation relationships across STEM, workforce development, higher education, or adjacent sectors that can be strategically activated in support of the organization’s mission and revenue goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive fundraising or business development experience.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving multimillion-dollar fundraising goals.
  • Experience managing teams and working with executive leadership and boards.
  • Demonstrated budget acumen, including experience with expense management, revenue and expense forecasting, and the development, management, and oversight of departmental budgets.
  • Passion for and demonstrated experience in process development, documentation, implementation, and improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to establish and maintain relationships (internal and external) is extremely important.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and have a heart to move the organization and mission forward.
  • Comfort and confidence working under pressure of deadlines and on multiple priorities at once.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of NSBE’s comprehensive annual and multi-year fundraising and revenue-generation strategy.
  • Ensure achievement of Fund Development revenue goals of a minimum of $16M at NSBE.
  • Carry and achieve an individual annual revenue goal of at least $2.3 million.
  • Develop strategies to increase unrestricted revenue and diversify funding streams.
  • Provide regular revenue forecasting, pipeline analysis, and fundraising performance updates to executive leadership.
  • Cultivate, solicit, negotiate, and steward high-value corporate, foundation, and philanthropic partnerships.
  • Lead donor engagement strategies designed to increase retention and multi-year commitments.
  • Oversee sponsorship package development, proposal creation, and partnership fulfillment.
  • Provide strategic leadership, direction, coaching, and accountability to the Fund Development team.
  • Establish clear performance goals, fundraising metrics, and operational expectations.
  • Lead team development through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
  • Oversee fundraising data integrity, CRM management, and pipeline tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable fundraising regulations and nonprofit best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance and Accounting to support budgeting and forecasting.
