About The Position

The Senior Director Epic programs will lead Epic and Clinical applications to include any new implementation and operational support across The Guthrie Clinic. The position of Senior Director Epic Programs is a unique opportunity to provide leadership and set strategy for all program/project plan activities including new deployments, optimization project management, internal consulting and educational support at all TGC locations. Reporting to the SVP & Chief Information Officer (CIO), the role will be responsible for managing the Epic modules and the relationships to downstream clinical systems to include those not directly connected to Epic. The role is part of the IT leadership team who leads The Guthrie Clinic in the strategy, development and implementation of Information Technology to support Clinicians, clinical practice and clinical applications. The Senior Director must collaborate with key senior leaders on the clinical and administrative decision-making process. The role will be responsible to develop clinical systems strategy to optimizes the use of existing clinical systems, for nurses, physicians, and other multidisciplinary care providers, by attending to their information management needs. He or she performs all duties in a manner that promotes a multidisciplinary team concept and reflects the organization’s mission and philosophy. The qualified candidate must be an engaging and transparent leader who maintains high visibility and demonstrates excellent communications skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience leading major Epic project implementations
  • Knowledge of the Epic project methodology
  • At least one Epic Certification
  • Project management training

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for the long-term vision of TGC’s clinical and/or revenue cycle information systems in collaboration with business leaders, colleagues and the CIO.
  • Combine knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts, and change management to effectively address the information and knowledge needs of healthcare professionals and patients to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of health IT in clinical settings.
  • Develop and implement appropriate service delivery in collaboration with leadership in defining, delivering, and improving services for the enterprise and its customers.
  • Maintain relationships with key business partners and other senior industry leaders in order to leverage best practices, evaluate emerging technologies, and distribute knowledge internally to inform plans and strategies.
  • Promote advancement of clinical and revenue systems capable of reporting variables to evaluate patient outcomes, to support research, and operational improvement across the continuum of care.
  • Assess evolving patient care delivery models, hospital operations, human resource processes, healthcare finance and payment models impacting the continuum of care.
  • Work with vendors to proactively strategize on development and/or enhancement of clinical information system solutions to meet organizational business needs.
  • Act as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and value measurement of informatics strategies to support quality patient care and professional practice.
  • Understand the impact of regulatory changes and interpret them for internal and external constituents.
  • Work with clinical and IT leaders in evaluating the effectiveness of technologies and workflows that impact clinical users.
