About The Position

Provides innovative leadership and oversight of the design and execution of patient logistics across the regions of the MUSC Health system (including the Charleston division, Florence division, Lancaster division, and Midlands division) including overall system capacity management; in-bound and out-bound transfers from outside hospitals, transfers among MUSC Health entities state-wide; coordination with selected ground and air patient logistics vendor; and detailed bed management/patient transport within the MUSC Health Charleston campus. Management and oversight of the Admit-Transfer Center (ATC) team -which serves all divisions of the MUSC Health enterprise. This team determines 24/7, 365 days’ appropriate bed assignments based on the clinical knowledge of disease entities epidemiological issues and conditions that may assist in deciding where a patient can be placed. Possesses knowledge of all the units as the type of patients served. Works collaboratively with the Medical Director of ATC/Patient Logistics, ICCE Physician Chiefs and Administrators, Divisions’ Leadership and other system leaders to achieve quality and safety standards and delivery of care models. Some travel within our Health system is required.

Requirements

  • 10 years’ progressive, out-come oriented leadership experience in healthcare, industry, or military/defense planning and logistics
  • Master’s Degree required
  • Proven leadership, facilitative, critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and mediation skills
  • Proven ability to lead across a large, geographically dispersed organization and interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure
  • Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications to the fullest
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
  • 10 years progressive work experience
  • 5 years management experience
