About The Position

Code and Theory is seeking a Senior Director to lead the operating model for marketing planning, execution, measurement, and improvement within large enterprise organizations. This role involves engaging with stakeholders from CMOs to marketing operations and MarTech/data leads to restructure and equip organizations for modern marketing at scale, integrating AI and data into workflows. The position requires a hands-on approach, with the expectation of successfully implementing working models within client environments. Depending on client needs, the role may involve forward-deployed capacity, which is an integral part of the work rather than a separate track.

Requirements

  • 12-15 years of experience in marketing operations, martech, consulting, or transformation delivery, with significant experience in both advising and building.
  • Fluency in modern marketing execution, including strategy to campaigns, handoff points, and data/privacy requirements.
  • Proven track record of shipping solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Commercial acumen in shaping scopes, structuring outcome-based pricing, defending margin, and growing accounts.
  • Hands-on fluency across major martech stacks (Adobe Experience Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Segment, Tealium), with deep expertise in at least one.
  • Understanding of martech stack architectures and tradeoffs; Adobe fluency is expected due to partnership.
  • Working knowledge of surrounding stacks (CRM, CDP, DAM, data warehouse, identity resolution, consent management).
  • Fluency in LLMs, prompt design, orchestration, and automation tooling for marketing and audience workflows.
  • Credibility with CMOs on brand strategy and growth, marketing operations leads on execution and capacity, and data/MarTech leads on architecture and integration.
  • Ability to hold conversations across brand, operations, and data/MarTech domains fluently.
  • Bias toward shipping solutions combined with systems thinking to decompose workflows.
  • Accountability to outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Map the full marketing lifecycle end-to-end and diagnose where the current model breaks, identifying issues in ownership, handoffs, tooling, and capacity.
  • Design the target-state operating model and governance layer to enable brand, legal, and privacy approvals at speed.
  • Reinvent the campaign and content supply chain to improve speed and transparency at every handoff.
  • Retro-engineer existing marketing workflows into AI-powered pipelines.
  • Configure and integrate marketing platforms (Adobe Experience Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Segment, Tealium) against brand and channel requirements.
  • Integrate new pipelines into the existing stack so they become part of the team's daily operations.
  • Design human-in-the-loop patterns for marketing judgment, brand compliance, and privacy review.
  • Manage VP-to-C-suite relationships, including CMOs, marketing operations leads, and data/MarTech leads, as well as intersecting cross-functional teams.
  • Translate between cross-functional agendas, constraints, and platform capabilities.
  • Run executive workshops to convert strategic ambiguity into actionable roadmaps and shape commercial strategy, including proof-point-driven programs, value-realization metrics, and account growth.
  • Train marketing teams, build enablement models, and measure gains to ensure the new model's sustainability.
  • Convert proven engagements into reusable accelerators, methods, and thought leadership, and shape partnerships with platform providers.
  • Set the standard for full-stack, AI-fluent, embedded delivery in marketing.
