About The Position

Flowco is seeking a Senior Digital Architect & Lift Applications engineer to drive the next generation of AI-powered production optimization tools for artificial lift innovation, and digital engineering platforms. The candidate's focus will be on deep domain expertise in artificial lift (Gas Lift, Plunger Lift, ESP, etc.), Full-stack software development, and AI/LLM-driven engineering workflows. The position will lead the design and deployment of intelligent production systems capable of analyzing, optimizing, and automating oil & gas well performance at scale, transforming Flowco into a technology-driven, data-first production partner. This role also involves contributing to R&D initiatives to expand application envelopes of Artificial Lift production and optimization platform technologies, supporting development and field deployment of new and existing systems, staying current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive solutions, participating in technical publications, industry conferences, and knowledge sharing, working within multidisciplinary teams (internal and external), mentoring junior engineers, providing technical training, managing multiple projects, and supporting strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of Artificial Lift (Gas Lift, Plunger Lift and ESP strongly preferred) and Production Engineering / Optimization
  • Proven track record of Technology development and deployment, software system development, creation, AI / data-driven engineering solutions, execution and education
  • Deep knowledge of: Gas lift, Plunger Lift and ESP system design, diagnostics, and optimization
  • Deep knowledge of: Nodal analysis, multiphase flow, and PVT behavior
  • Software development capability: C#, .NET, Python, SQL, data systems
  • AI/ML experience: RAG systems
  • AI/ML experience: LLM integration
  • AI/ML experience: Engineering automation workflows

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to R&D initiatives to expand application envelopes of Artificial Lift production and optimization platform technologies
  • Support development and field deployment of new systems and support of existing systems
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive solutions
  • Participate in technical publications, industry conferences, and knowledge sharing
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams, Internal and External, including reservoir, production, development, sales and operations teams
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training to sales and operations teams
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Support strategic decision-making through technical expertise and data-driven insights
  • Support the company’s goals and objectives, helping lead the company’s expertise in artificial lift production optimization
  • Provide technical oversight and execution on digital tools for well design, analysis, diagnostics, performance and production optimization
  • Helping drive advanced digital engineering analysis across the company’s lift capabilities
  • Build upon the company’s best practices for artificial lift system design, surveillance, and troubleshooting
  • Architect and lead development of AI-driven production optimization platforms
  • Build and deploy RAG-based engineering knowledge systems and LLM workflows
  • Integrate real-time data sources (SCADA, well tests, downhole gauges) into intelligent systems
  • Develop automated diagnostics, recommendations, and reporting engines
  • Lead and drive the development of production-grade engineering software platforms
  • Oversee architecture across: Simulation engines, IPR and VLP analysis tools, Nodal analysis tools, Data pipelines and analytics systems
  • Guide development in C#, .NET, Python, SQL, and cloud-based environments
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and integration across Flowco’s product lines
  • Be part of a team that drives end-to-end lifecycle: Concept, development & beta versions, testing, debugging, final versions, field deployment and commercial scaling
  • Identify and develop next-generation offerings in: Gas Lift, Plunger Lift, ESP and other forms of lift optimization, Capillary + chemical injection integration, Downhole monitoring + analytics
  • Translate technical capabilities into revenue-generating products
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to existing and potential company clients (operators, majors, independents)
  • Support technical proposals
  • Present innovations at industry forums, trade shows and conferences
  • Help position Flowco as a technology leader vs. traditional service provider
  • Lead transition from: Rule-based engineering systems AI-assisted systems LLM-driven reasoning platforms
  • Develop hybrid AI architectures combining: Physics-based models, Expert systems, Machine learning / LLM reasoning
  • Build internal capabilities for AI-assisted engineering automation
