About The Position

Nauset Disposal, part of Waste Connections, is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to join its growing team at the South Yarmouth, Massachusetts site. The role maintains and repairs diesel vehicles and helps ensure driver safety and reliable service to the community. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with Saturdays as needed. Pay is $34.00 to $40.00 per hour. The position is overtime eligible and includes a $10,000 retention bonus, annual boot allowance, quarterly safety bonus, paid training, year-round employment, and weekly pay.

Requirements

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Proven experience as a diesel mechanic.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostic tools, and repair procedures for heavy-duty trucks.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments to complete work assignments.

Nice To Haves

Waste industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs, inspections, safety checks, and diagnosis of diesel vehicles.
Repair electrical, hydraulic, engine, suspension, brake, and air systems on diesel vehicles.
Use vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes and identify and adjust engine and vehicle control modules.
Respond to road calls for emergency repairs.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software programs.
Test-drive trucks after services and repairs.
Help other team members with repairs as needed.
Interact professionally and courteously with drivers when needed.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
