About The Position

GDIT is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to support an intelligence customer in Springfield, Virginia, or St. Louis, Missouri. The role focuses on improving software delivery through stronger DevOps practices, automation, and operational discipline, bridging development and operations to improve collaboration and reduce release disruption. The engineer will enhance observability, monitoring, and incident response, and improve configuration management and documentation to support scalable, resilient operations.

The position configures CI/CD for web applications; builds applications from source code and dependencies; performs automated testing and security scans; deploys to development, staging, and operations environments; and manages infrastructure as code and configuration. It includes creating Helm charts for OpenShift deployments, maintaining system security through software updates in response to scan findings, and documenting systems and architecture to demonstrate security compliance. Additional work includes designing and developing enterprise cloud solutions and software, conducting complex investigations and tests, resolving compatibility and interface considerations, accounting for emerging technologies and product supportability, contributing to technical documentation, preparing and presenting reports, and advising hardware engineers on machine characteristics affecting software systems.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must currently possess TS/SCI clearance with polygraph; the employer can sponsor for polygraph. The posting also lists the ability to obtain TS/SCI with polygraph.
• At least 6 years of directly related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, or a related field, or 2 additional years of information technology experience.
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
• Working experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar.
• Knowledge of OIDC/OAuth/Auth2 or similar zero-trust identity implementations.
• Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps-style operations management.
• Experience managing web servers, including DNS and certificate management.
• Knowledge of HTTP API design standards and best practices.
• Ability to manage web-application networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and OpenShift, and knowledge of AWS.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, OpenShift Containerized Platform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging, and network and security for containers.
• Experience deploying and managing databases and interacting with databases using SQL and ORMs.
• Ability to write Python and BASH for systems tooling.
• Ability to contribute code updates or tweaks to existing code repositories.
• Experience with software system design and creating application architecture diagrams for new applications.
• Experience integrating security components with applications and databases.
• One or more technical certifications, such as Network+, Security+, or CISSP.
• The job duties also describe eight years of experience designing and implementing complex systems in a classified environment, experience developing strategic system architecture plans, and experience in system and network creation and development.
• In-depth knowledge of enterprise solution principles and methods, and a solid understanding of information-processing fundamentals and best practices.

• Familiarity with configuration management and the Request for Change process for review and assessment.
• Experience implementing zero-downtime re-indexing strategies and managing complex Elasticsearch data models, such as routing, query-time, and de-duplication, in an OpenShift/Kubernetes environment.
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Thanos, Alloy, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, or Grafana.
