About The Position

Abbott is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and optimize scalable DevOps solutions supporting the build, release, and deployment of modern cloud-based applications. The role requires hands-on expertise in DevOps tools, CI/CD processes, Azure cloud services, source control, and release automation.

The engineer will manage Azure infrastructure and mobile application delivery pipelines across development, QA, and production environments. The role also includes configuring mobile backend and API services, supporting Firebase and push notifications for iOS and Android, and implementing security controls and release processes. The position is based in Pleasanton, California, and includes travel 10% of the time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or related roles.
• At least 3 years of experience building iOS and Android mobile applications.
• Hands-on experience with source code management systems such as GitHub and Azure Repos.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins.
• Proven expertise in build and release automation processes.
• Experience with Azure services, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Service Bus, Azure Cache for Redis, Azure AD B2C, and Azure API Management (APIM).
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting skills, such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools.

Nice To Haves

• Experience automating infrastructure using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and security integration in CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Azure Monitor.
• Experience in high-availability, distributed systems environments.
• Relevant Azure certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400), or Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305).
• Kubernetes or AKS-related certifications, such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or CKAD.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Drive DevOps best practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code.
• Manage source code repositories and branching strategies using GitHub, Azure Repos, or similar tools.
• Build and maintain release automation workflows using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Provision, configure, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure for scalability, security, and high availability.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to streamline delivery pipelines and improve deployment frequency.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability and efficiency.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and implement DevSecOps practices across pipelines.
• Design, configure, and maintain Azure infrastructure, including CDN rules, Key Vault secrets and certificates, managed identities, and B2C tenant integrations for mobile applications across Dev, QA, and Prod environments.
• Build and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines for iOS and Android mobile app builds, including secure file management, environment-specific configurations, and automated deployments to TestFlight and Google Play Console.
• Configure backend services, including APIM policies, JWT validation, Service Bus authentication, SSL certificate pinning, and mobile Graph API integrations for Flutter mobile applications.
• Set up and manage Firebase projects, configure APNs authentication keys, manage Firebase Admin SDK credentials in Key Vault, and support reliable iOS and Android push notification delivery.
• Implement security controls, including certificate management, keystore generation, and provisioning profile management.
• Coordinate cross-functional releases and validate pre-deployment checklists and environment registrations.
