About The Position

As a Senior DevOps Engineer on NinjaOne's DevOps Engineering team, you will build and operate release and deployment pipelines that move code from commit to production quickly, safely, and predictably at scale. The role focuses on CI/CD, deployment automation, and Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code, with hands-on work across cloud platforms and Kubernetes as a deployment runtime. You will help create a cloud-agnostic Terraform foundation and ensure environments are version-controlled, reviewable, and reproducible. You will collaborate with Development, QA, Security, and Corporate IT to keep releases and infrastructure secure, resilient, and fast. The position owns the last mile of software delivery, turning builds into safe, automated, repeatable production deployments. Work may be remote from home in specified U.S. states or hybrid from NinjaOne's offices in Austin, Texas, or Tampa, Florida. Onsite interviews may be required. NinjaOne's platform is built using Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang, and Postgres and runs as a scalable cloud service in AWS, supporting millions of user endpoints. Familiarity with large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design, and client-server architecture may be helpful. NinjaOne provides a unified IT operations platform for nearly 40,000 customers in more than 140 countries, combining endpoint management, autonomous patching, backup, and remote access. The company reports a 98% customer satisfaction score sustained for more than five years.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in a cloud-based DevOps environment, with deep, current AWS expertise and emphasis on release engineering, deployment automation, and IaC.
  • Production experience with Azure and/or GCP in addition to AWS; experience operating on two or more clouds is preferred, and the posting seeks experience deploying and running infrastructure on multiple clouds.
  • At least 4 years of production Terraform experience, including module authoring, remote state management, workspaces, provider version management, and safe plan/apply workflows integrated into CI/CD.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or ECS container orchestration and deployment tools such as Helm and Kustomize, including provisioning clusters and node groups with Terraform.
  • Experience using Terraform in a multi-team environment, including state design, module registries, versioning policy, and access control.
  • Deep experience designing and operating continuous delivery pipelines, including progressive rollout and automated rollback; the role emphasizes ownership of CD/release engineering and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong cloud operations skills focused on scalability, reliability, and maintainability of cloud-native applications and Terraform-managed infrastructure.
  • Experience helping teams adopt IaC through documentation, golden-path templates, and migrations.
  • Comfort with agile tools such as Jira and Confluence and version control such as Git and BitBucket for application code and IaC.
  • At least 5 years working with nix operating systems, including Linux, MacOS, BSD variants, or IBM AIX.
  • At least 4 years of scripting in languages such as Shell, Go, Python, PERL, or Tcl/Tk, used for deployment tooling, automation, and Terraform wrappers.
  • At least 4 years of production monitoring, alerting, and deployment observability, including managing change and configuration and detecting drift against Terraform-managed state.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating on two or more clouds.
  • Familiarity with provider-agnostic Terraform module patterns.
  • CircleCI experience.
  • Familiarity with Terraform ecosystem tools such as Terragrunt, Terraform Cloud/Enterprise, Atlantis, Sentinel/OPA, or Checkov.
  • A track record of reducing deployment lead time, change failure rate, and time to recover through automation and codified infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design, and client-server architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the CI/CD framework, especially continuous delivery capabilities such as artifact and environment promotion, deployment gating, automated rollback, and Terraform runs, plan reviews, and policy checks.
  • Implement progressive delivery strategies, including blue/green, canary, and rolling deployments, with automated health checks, gating, and rollback defined as code.
  • Build release orchestration tooling across services and regions, including scheduling, change tracking, and feature-flag-driven rollout.
  • Design reusable, well-versioned Terraform modules and manage remote state, workspaces, and environment strategy so teams can self-serve infrastructure changes through code review.
  • Build secure, compliant infrastructure in AWS and help develop provider-agnostic module patterns and standards that can extend to Azure and GCP, with Kubernetes as the common runtime.
  • Integrate policy-as-code, security and compliance scanning, and cost checks into Terraform pipelines.
  • Partner with engineering teams to migrate existing infrastructure to Terraform and create documentation and golden-path templates that enable teams to author and own their IaC.
  • Monitor deployment pipelines, release health, and Terraform plan/apply activity.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for production support during and after business hours, including incident response, rollback, and remediation.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
