About The Position

Mirantis is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the MOSK (Mirantis OpenStack for Kubernetes) product team. The role works at the intersection of OpenStack, Kubernetes, and product engineering to design, validate, and evolve a cloud-native OpenStack platform for enterprise private clouds. The engineer will serve as a technical authority on OpenStack and MOSK behavior, contribute to architectural decisions, support complex customer scenarios, and help deliver stable, high-quality product releases. The position includes shaping the product roadmap, evaluating customer feature requests against upstream OpenStack code and specifications, and designing lifecycle management for OpenStack on Kubernetes, including upgrades, patching, scaling, rollbacks, and compatibility. It also involves validating features, reviewing technical designs and implementations, leading engineering discussions, and developing frameworks, tools, automation, and CI/CD workflows. The engineer will provide Tier-3 support for complex customer production issues, investigate and troubleshoot OpenStack services, analyze performance and scalability, maintain development and validation environments, and provide accurate technical guidance to documentation, field, and enablement teams. Mirantis describes its culture as global, collaborative, and remote-first, focused on open-source innovation and enterprise cloud and AI infrastructure.

  • Contributions to open-source projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical input on the MOSK product roadmap and backlog, including feature feasibility, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Evaluate customer feature requests by reviewing upstream OpenStack code, specifications, blueprints, documentation, maturity, stability, limitations, and operational caveats.
  • Design, implement, and document lifecycle management for OpenStack on Kubernetes, including upgrades, patching, scaling, rollbacks, and feature compatibility.
  • Define test scenarios, validate feature behavior, and integrate supported features into MOSK lifecycle management.
  • Review and refine product designs, APIs, and implementations for robustness, security, and developer experience.
  • Lead design discussions, planning sessions, and retrospectives, promoting software quality, architectural rigor, and operational readiness.
  • Develop and maintain frameworks, libraries, and internal tools for MOSK development, testing, and lifecycle operations.
  • Build and evolve automation for complex OpenStack-on-Kubernetes environments used in development, testing, and validation.
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and integrations for build, test, validation, upgrade, and release workflows.
  • Provide Tier-3 support by debugging and resolving complex production issues involving Kubernetes, OpenStack, networking, storage, and distributed systems.
