About The Position

Vision To Learn (VTL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses to children in low-income communities at no cost. They utilize mobile "vision clinics" to deliver services on-site at schools and community organizations. VTL is funded through private philanthropy, including foundations, corporations, and individuals, as well as public funding from Medicaid, CHIP, school districts, cities, counties, and states. As the largest school-based vision care provider in the country, VTL addresses the critical issue of children attending school without the necessary vision correction. Since 2012, they have served millions of children, providing screenings, eye exams, and glasses, and operate in numerous cities across 14 states and Washington, D.C. The Senior Development Officer will play a crucial role in strengthening Vision To Learn’s fundraising program. This position will focus on leading donor stewardship, donor communications, and moves management for a portfolio of individual and institutional supporters. The goal is to create a disciplined, donor-centered experience with strategic engagement, timely actions, compelling communications, and consistent follow-through. The role involves managing an assigned portfolio, assisting the Chief Growth Officer and organizational leaders in advancing priority donor relationships, translating program impact into tailored engagement, coordinating leadership touchpoints, maintaining reliable portfolio data, and employing moves-management practices to guide donors through cultivation, solicitation, renewal, and deeper commitment. Additionally, the Senior Development Officer will directly cultivate and solicit donors and funders, and support grant and fundraising activities. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer, a proactive relationship builder, and a highly organized portfolio manager with strong judgment and warm, personalized donor engagement skills.
