About The Position

SAP America, Inc. seeks a Senior Developer at our Palo Alto, CA location responsible for engineering focusing on design, coding, testing, and quality assurance of specific SAP product features as part of a development team. The role involves building SAP’s Business Data Cloud and implementing a highly available and scalable data platform infrastructure using cloud, SAP proprietary, and open-source technologies. The developer will solve complex problems in the distributed data processing domain, focusing on availability, scalability, performance, and multiple consistency models. Collaboration with cross-functional product and engineering teams is expected to deliver on a common vision and delight customers. The role also includes championing best-in-class engineering methodologies and architectural practices within the organization.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Employer will accept a 3 or 4 year Bachelor’s degree.
Alternatively, a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Experience must include four (4) years involving each of the following: Python/ PySpark and at least two Java, Scala, C/C++, or Golang and their eco-system.
Experience with Modern Database Management Systems and SAP HANA Cloud specifically, Postgres and MySQL.
Experience with Cloud native data processing environments such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud and technologies including Spark, Flink, Hadoop and Kafka.
Experience designing and implementing Kubernetes, Helm and microservices orchestration.
Experience designing, building and maintaining CI/CD systems using Github Actions and Jenkins pipelines along with relevant plugins and extensions.
Experience with GitOps model, self-healing, reconciliation and resilience.
Experience with Agile practices and cloud native development approaches.
Experience leading small to medium sized projects spanning multiple time zones.

Responsibilities

Engineering focusing on design, coding, testing, and quality assurance of specific SAP product features as part of a development team.

Implement parts of a highly available and scalable data platform infrastructure leveraging established SAP technologies.

Champion best in class engineering methodologies and architectural practices within our organization.
