In this role the candidate will work in a team of software developers, accountable for automating, standardizing, and building data engineering processes for analytic applications across various lines of businesses. The curation and transformations of the data and the underlying processes are managed by Customer Data Engineering (CDE) under Canadian Personal and Business Banking, Data AI Transformation and Analytics (D.A.T.A.) division. This position will require the individual to provide technical insight and design software applications for ETL pipelines that deliver innovative business solutions. The candidate will use their knowledge of programming tools coupled with software development life cycle (SDLC) principles and problem-solving capabilities to deliver robust automated processes. They will continuously look for ways to improve the efficiency and lifecycle of the jobs and will enforce development best practices in building and sustaining an efficient, reliable and scalable environment.

Requirements

  • University or college degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of working experience in Information technology, ETL development, analytics, data modeling, data science or related
  • Experience with programing languages, SQL, PL/SQL, Python, and Unix scripting
  • Knowledge of job scheduling and orchestration tools such as Autosys and AirFlow
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as Sybase IQ, Redshift
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and written
  • Demonstrates solid analytical and problem resolving skills
  • Illustrates decision making, planning, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Exemplifies initiative and creativity to drive solutions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ETL tools such as Ab Initio, Informatica or SAS will be an asset
  • Knowledge cloud native tools and data modelling tools will be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for analysis and design to create efficient data flows that support business processes
  • Performs detailed impact analysis to assess business requirements
  • Creates architectural design to create and implement automated code processes
  • Creates functional test plans for appropriate level of testing
  • Provides awareness of changes and associated impacts to the environment
  • Responsible for developing robust, efficient, and scalable applications for the business
  • Creates test plans and performs appropriate functional testing on the process
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of development best practices and standards within the software development life cycle framework
  • Ensures successful delivery and execution of the transformation processes
  • Collaborates and provides feedback to peers and ensures standards are maintained
  • Prepares process documentation and communicates issues and resolutions
  • Develops good working relationship with internal technology teams and business partners
  • Takes ownership of data issues, communicates and notifies appropriate teams as needed
  • Consults with support teams to identify and resolve issues, and prevent reoccurrences
  • Performs periodic review of the processes to identify any opportunity for improvement and make recommendations as needed
  • Maintains good knowledge of emerging business needs to enable better customer experience
