Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience
• Bachelor's degree
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud-native development on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including AWS Lambda, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS), and Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)
• Strong experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle
• Strong experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB
• Advanced knowledge of object-oriented programming, software architecture, design patterns, database design, data modeling, and distributed systems
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Experience leading delivery within an Agile framework such as Scrum or Kanban, using an issue tracker such as Jira
• Experience with AI-assisted developer tooling, such as Amazon Q Developer or GitHub Copilot
• Demonstrated ability to lead a development team and to mentor developers
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage executive leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams
• Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
• United States citizenship
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination

Nice To Haves

• An Amazon Web Services certification, or a Python certification
• Federal information technology experience
• Experience in a client-facing consulting environment leading technical delivery teams
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps best practices

Responsibilities

• Own the technical design and delivery of a defined application or solution area.
• Learn new systems and tools, take on greater responsibility, and help develop the firm's capabilities, tools, and lines of business.
• Make design decisions that connect a solution's components and carry the result through production.
• Design how the components of an application or solution area fit together, then guide their implementation.
• Build cloud-native systems whose automated operation replaces manual process.
• Build and maintain the delivery path itself, the pipelines and automated tests, rather than merely using them.
• Set the pattern for development assisted by artificial intelligence (AI), including tools such as Amazon Q Developer.
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of Python-based enterprise solutions that meet client requirements.
• Lead quality development practices, including test-driven development, code reviews, and application security standards.
• Develop accurate project estimates and support project planning, delivery forecasting, and resource allocation activities.
• Deliver an integrated solution whose parts work together and hold one quality bar.
• Automate the validations and workflows that used to live in a spreadsheet.
• Build the developers around you through the way you work.
• Take personal ownership of what you build.
• Spend real time making the developers around you better, through code review, through explaining your reasoning, and through the standard you set.
• Keep the team steady and productive when priorities shift.
• Communicate clearly, adapt across roles and clients, and care about creating public value.
• Experiment, learn from failure, and try again quickly.
• Own an outcome rather than simply being given a task.
• Adapt your development workflow as AI tools evolve, using them to help implement, test, and improve the components you own.
• Give the tools clear context, review and test their output, and remain accountable for the code you deliver.
