About The Position

This role involves creating 2D and 3D mechanical layouts, sketches, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD. The Senior Designer will interpret schematics, specifications, and engineering drawings to develop complete system designs, specifically supporting the design of paint finishing equipment, mechanical layouts, piping, and related components. The position requires identifying design challenges and developing practical technical solutions, participating in design reviews, and collaborating with engineering and estimating teams. Coordination with contractors, suppliers, and customers throughout the design process is essential, as is maintaining drawing accuracy, revision control, distribution, and document archives. The role also involves supporting project schedules, completing design deliverables on time, and visiting customer sites for field measurements and condition verification. Travel is approximately 20%.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of mechanical design experience.
  • Strong AutoCAD 2D and 3D skills.
  • Experience developing mechanical layouts and detailed fabrication or installation drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations using strong math and geometry skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with project teams, suppliers, and customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic piping design is preferred.
  • MicroStation or TriCAD experience is a plus.
  • Flexibility to support overtime, weekends, or holidays when project needs require it.
