Senior Designer

PopSockets•Broomfield, CO
•$85,000 - $95,000•Hybrid

About The Position

PopSockets is seeking a hands-on, craft-first Senior Designer to create and refine visual work across brand campaigns, product storytelling, packaging, social, retail, and marketing content. The designer will own projects from concept through art direction and production-ready execution, set a high visual standard, and help evolve PopSockets’ visual identity across channels and partners. This is a senior individual-contributor role focused on making, not department management or creative direction. The role also serves as the primary U.S.-side creative lead and day-to-day collaboration manager for PopSockets’ in-house design studio in China. The designer will collaborate with marketing, product, packaging, agencies, and partners; present and explain creative choices; respond to feedback; and maintain files, templates, and libraries that help the team work consistently and efficiently. The position is based in Boulder, Colorado, with a hybrid arrangement and in-office days to be determined.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional graphic or brand design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating range and consistently high craft.
  • Exceptional graphic-design ability and visual literacy, including strong judgment in typography, photography, composition, color, and layout.
  • Mastery of core design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, and a fast workflow from concept to print- and pixel-ready files.
  • Strong typographic fundamentals, including hierarchy, spacing, grids, and type pairing.
  • Photography and image-direction skills, including art-directing shoots and selecting and cropping imagery.
  • Ability to build and extend a brand identity system, not only create one-off assets.
  • Strong communication skills, including pitching ideas, explaining choices, and giving and receiving feedback.
  • Self-direction and ownership; ability to run projects with light supervision and know when to seek input.
  • Curiosity about culture, trends, and relevant categories, with sound judgment about what to adopt.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with consumer products, lifestyle, fashion, or entertainment brands.
  • Motion, illustration, or 3D skills.
  • Experience with licensed or partner intellectual property, collaborations, or brand partnerships.
  • Familiarity with retail and direct-to-consumer/e-commerce design.
  • Proficiency with animation.
  • Experience with generative AI tools such as Nano-banana, GPT2, Seedream, or Midjourney.

Responsibilities

  • Concept and design brand, campaign, product-storytelling, marketing, and social work from initial sketches through production-ready artwork.
  • Set visual direction for projects, including typography, photography, color, composition, and overall aesthetic.
  • Use generative AI tools and processes to develop concepts from sketches through finished content and animation.
  • Extend and evolve the visual identity system while maintaining consistency and freshness across channels and partners.
  • Translate briefs and business goals into effective design and articulate the rationale behind the work.
  • Present work, explain creative choices, receive feedback, and iterate quickly while preserving the core idea.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, packaging, external agencies, and partners.
  • Serve as the primary U.S.-side creative lead and day-to-day collaboration manager for the in-house design studio in China.
  • Build and maintain design files, templates, and libraries to improve team speed and consistency.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high-quality execution and attention to detail.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 3% company 401(k) contribution with immediate vesting.
  • Paid time off, paid leave, company holidays, and birthday PTO.
  • $50 per month wellness benefit.
  • Paid volunteer time.
  • Up to $5,250 per year in continuing education assistance.
  • PopSockets product perks.
