About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Designer to join our team at the Corporate Office in Trussville, AL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and detailing mechanical enclosures for motor and pump drive systems specifically for oil and gas applications. This role requires advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and experience with PLM systems like Fusion Manage. You will collaborate closely with various engineering disciplines and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable. A strong understanding of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles is essential. The role also involves supporting continuous improvement of drafting standards and adhering to our company culture.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a mechanical designer or draftsman.
• Demonstrated experience designing enclosures for motor and pump drives in the oil and gas industry.
• Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.
• Working experience with Fusion Manage or similar PLM systems.
• Strong understanding of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles.
• Experience preparing designs for fabrication, machining, and assembly.
• Ability to read and apply industry standards, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Strong alignment with the SPOC Lift Up culture.
• Highly collaborative, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multi-disciplined teams.
• Self-motivated and driven to succeed, with a keen sense of ownership and accountability.
• Clear communicator who can explain design intent and technical details effectively.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with sheet metal, welded structures, and heavy industrial equipment.
• Exposure to oil & gas industry codes, standards, or hazardous area considerations.
• Experience supporting production or working directly with manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail mechanical enclosures for motor and pump drive systems used in oil and gas applications.
• Produce correct 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Manage and support design data, revisions, and lifecycle states using Fusion Manage.
• Ensure designs are manufacturing-ready, including tolerance definition, material choice, fastener selection, and considerations for weldments, sheet metal, and fabrication.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and buildable.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to improve quality and manufacturability.
• Support continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates, and best practices.
• Adhere to and promote the SPOC Lift Up culture, contributing positively to team dynamics and shared success.
