About The Position

The Senior Designer, Soft Wovens will apply expertise in design concepts, practices, and procedures, particularly in the contemporary women’s market. The role relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish Design departmental goals. The successful candidate will have proven success in an apparel design environment or a related field and will partner closely with Production, R&D, and other Design-related divisions. The position is based in New York, NY, and is hybrid.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in Design.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Fashion Design.
• High-fashion aesthetics with modern aesthetic sensibility.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Strong color and print sense.
• Experience in freehand and flat design sketching.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required.

Responsibilities

• Apply extensive knowledge of garment construction and technical specifications.
• Take an active role in fit sessions and product line reviews, ensuring timely release of patterns.
• Ensure corporate design and calendar deadlines are met.
• Maintain strong knowledge of market trends and competition.
• Lead research and development of seasonal trends.
• Create original hand sketches of style groups based on concepts and direction from the Creative Director.
• Ensure the original vision and fit expectations are maintained.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with overseas vendors.
