About The Position

Iron Mountain is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join its North America Design team. The role is responsible for end-to-end design execution on major data center developments, customer deployments, phased expansions, and complex operational upgrades. The manager leads multidisciplinary design delivery throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring technical decisions align with safety, customer, commercial, program, resilience, and sustainability goals.

Requirements

• Typically 10+ years of experience with substantial accountability for complex data center or mission-critical capital projects.
• Deep multidisciplinary understanding of critical-facility systems, consultant governance, codes and standards, permitting, and global versus local compliance.
• Strong commercial awareness to balance technical trade-offs against costs.
• Proven capability to mentor and lead cross-functional teams through influence.
• Four-year college degree in Architecture, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Define design delivery strategy and lead major facility, campus phase, or complex regional programs from concept development through construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Coordinate external consultants, equipment manufacturers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to integrate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and security systems.
• Oversee design reporting, risk management, and value engineering, and lead resolution of technical, commercial, and program risks.
• Partner with Construction, Operations, Security, and Sustainability divisions on design matters.
• Mentor Design Managers to elevate regional practices.
