Senior Design Engineer - Hand Tools

Milwaukee Tool•Milwaukee, MT

About The Position

The Senior Design Engineer’s primary role is to use highly developed engineering expertise and project management abilities to contribute to the design and development of new products and support existing products within the department. The role serves as a key technical leader on New Product Development projects and helps guide engineering decisions across cross-functional teams. The engineer provides technical leadership on mid- and high-complexity Hand Tool New Product Development projects; develops validation strategies and testing regimens; and conducts data analysis, laboratory testing, and field testing to inform design recommendations and product development decisions. The role also provides technical consultation, design reviews, and mentorship to other engineers, while identifying and helping mitigate technical and project risks. The position applies engineering calculations and software-aided analyses to mechanical stress, tolerance stacks, mechanisms, kinematics, force transmission, durability, fatigue, failure, ergonomics, and user-focused design. It partners with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and suppliers to develop robust designs, resolve technical challenges, and support production launches. The engineer also leads technical investigations, competitive product evaluations, and root cause analyses to improve products and support future development.
