Pratt & Whitney’s Cold Section Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) organization is seeking a goal-oriented, detail-focused Senior Design Engineer to join the Commercial Fan Blade Design Team in Holt, Michigan. This role supports production and engineering activities through technical problem-solving, quality improvement, engineering changes, and producibility initiatives. The engineer will collaborate with operations, quality, procurement, suppliers, and engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) while developing expertise in airfoil design and production support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of engineering experience, or an Advanced degree in Engineering with 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Relevant engineering experience in engineering design, manufacturing, production support, or technical problem-solving.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Aerospace industry experience in a manufacturing environment, with commercial and military experience highly desirable.
  • Working proficiency with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, SAP, and MS Office.
  • Experience with fan blades, airfoils, MRB, engineering changes, supplier support, or manufacturing problem resolution.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, relationship-building, and cultural-awareness skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute corrective actions, Quality Notifications (QNs), Class II engineering changes, Cost of Poor Quality initiatives, and producibility improvements to improve quality, cost, and production performance.
  • Identify value-stream waste and recurring defects, perform root-cause investigations, and implement sustainable corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including operations, quality, procurement, suppliers, and engineering SMEs to resolve production issues, support Material Review Board (MRB) activities, and assist Stop Delivery Order/Fleet Podding Notification investigations to closure.
  • Develop technical expertise as an airfoil SME, serve as a primary contact for airfoil design activities, and progress toward Delegate Approver responsibilities for applicable hardware.
  • Prepare and present technical status and recommendations to Cold Section Engineering (CSE), ESTO, and Operations management, while capturing lessons learned and establishing right-sized, risk-based analysis practices.
