About The Position

This role is for a Sr. Design Engineer in Charlotte, leading overhead and underground distribution projects from concept to completion. Responsibilities include performing and supporting field noting, developing construction prints, preparing budget estimates using Maximo/BOUD, and ensuring quality through QA/QC. The position also involves structural analysis of distribution poles and collaboration with the team to deliver reliable, high-quality designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical distribution
• Knowledge of BOUD, Maximo, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
• Strong work ethic with a desire to work in a production environment

Nice To Haves

• QA/QC experience is highly desired

Responsibilities

• Apply technical expertise to develop high-quality designs that meet project specifications and client requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand project goals and design details.
• Communicate project risks or challenges related to scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
• Partner with Designers and Drafters to produce complete and accurate design packages.
• Contribute to engineering designs through calculations, drawings, and technical analysis.
• Lead design efforts on smaller projects and support complex engineering initiatives.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, clients, and vendors.
• Help coordinate design tasks and support the development of design team members.
• Maintain quality by following company and client procedures and performing thorough self-reviews.
• Support field activities and other project needs as required.
