Job Summary: Acrisure is seeking a Senior Deputy General Counsel, Litigation to join our growing team in either Grand Rapids, MI, or New York, NY. This position is a key member of the legal leadership team, responsible for overseeing the organization’s litigation strategy and execution, managing all aspects of legal disputes, and ensuring effective resolution. This role provides strategic legal counsel on complex litigation matters, manages internal and external legal teams, and ensures alignment between legal risk management and business objectives. This role reports to the General Counsel.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of litigation experience, preferably including in-house counsel in a public company and law firm experience.
  • 10+ years managing a team of litigators and paralegals
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • Proven track record of managing complex litigation matters and leading legal teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of litigation attorneys and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Lead and manage the organization’s litigation portfolio, including regulatory investigations, commercial disputes, employment matters, and class actions.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies that protect the company’s interests and mitigate risk.
  • Provide legal counsel to executive leadership on litigation risks and outcomes.
  • Oversee and manage outside counsel, including budgeting, strategy, pleadings, and settlement negotiations.
  • Represent the company in court proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across business units to ensure legal strategies support operational goals.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise on potential impacts to the organization.
  • Maintain relationships with key regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
