About The Position

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. seeks to hire a Deputy General Counsel. The Deputy General Counsel acts on behalf of and at the direction of the General Counsel in providing legal advice and counsel to management on a wide variety of legal, regulatory, and business matters.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Minimum four years of experience as an attorney. Law firm and litigation experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one core area of U.S. law, such as corporate, employment, media, or intellectual property.
  • Ability to perform legal research using Westlaw (or comparable software) and to present the findings of such research in concise, well-written form (mandatory)
  • Experience juggling multiple ongoing matters (mandatory)
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate in a highly diverse multinational workplace
  • Top-notch writing skills

Nice To Haves

  • Law firm and litigation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform legal research and write memoranda based on that research
  • Draft and review contracts
  • Advise on personnel matters and draft related communications and agreements
  • Perform pre-publication review of journalistic content
  • Conduct internal investigations
  • Advise on copyright and trademark matters
  • Assist in the management of outside counsel
  • Liaise with Board of Directors, USAGM, and other grantees
  • Perform special projects as assigned by General Counsel.
