About The Position

Empower AI is seeking a Senior Deployment Engineer / Tiger Team Lead for an exciting opportunity at the Department of State. This role involves leading ad hoc teams to ensure the successful, efficient, and timely execution of hardware and software upgrade deployments across worldwide consular facilities. The position requires meticulous Hardware Configuration Management (HCM) to maintain operational readiness and security. Responsibilities include planning and executing installations, providing pilot/beta system support, adjusting deployment plans as needed, performing operating system configurations, security fixes, software installations/upgrades, and Oracle database changes. The role also involves conducting site surveys, delivering deployment tracking reports, coordinating logistics, creating technical documentation, and providing specialized teams (Tiger Teams) for special projects and surges. Additionally, the engineer will maintain installation and upgrade schedules, develop project plans, refine SOPs, and manage a server refresh plan for all worldwide facilities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's in IT or related field
  • Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead ad hoc teams of deployment engineers to provide successful, efficient, and timely execution of all physical deployment and installation activities for hardware and software upgrades across all worldwide consular facilities.
  • Deliver Server Installation Support Services and execute meticulous Hardware Configuration Management (HCM) for all designated customer configurable items.
  • Ensure all installations are planned for completion by dedicated onsite teams.
  • Provide a plan for all pilot or beta system support trips within five days of Government approval.
  • Accelerate, expand, lessen, or adjust deployment trips as required for special circumstances, such as the need for rapid deployment of new or complex applications.
  • Perform necessary operating system configuration and security fixes, software application installations and upgrades, security patches, one-off application/security deployments, and Oracle database changes.
  • Conduct site surveys and deliver recommendations for renovations, infrastructure components, and physical placement of equipment at all locations.
  • Deliver deployment tracking reports for both post self-installs and those performed by the installation team.
  • Coordinate logistics with other functional contract elements (e.g., shipping and receiving, deployment, training).
  • Create accurate technical documents for all server installation activities.
  • Provide additional resources, including temporary specialized teams (e.g., Tiger Teams), as needed to respond to special projects and surges in deployment support.
  • Deliver and maintain an installation and upgrade schedule.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and schedules for all special projects.
  • Refine, execute, and maintain SOPs for deployments, reviewing them semi-annually and implementing recommended improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive server refresh plan for all worldwide customer facilities, coordinating with Facility POCs to minimize disruptions.
