About The Position

Johnson Brothers Maverick of Texas is seeking a Senior Delivery Manager to oversee all delivery and fleet-related operations within Texas. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and safe movement of goods, managing a large fleet and team, and driving continuous improvement in logistics operations. The position involves strategic planning, financial oversight, vendor management, and ensuring compliance with all transportation regulations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Transportation Management.
  • Proven ability to analyze operational data and build KPI scorecard insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; clear, effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results.
  • Demonstrated ability to review issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Strong prioritization skills.

  • Intermediate MS Office Suite skills.
  • Proven experience with electronic driver qualification management as well as fleet safety & ELD software such as Samsara or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an organization's logistics operations, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and safe movement of goods throughout the state.
  • Oversee 150+ company-owned CDL and non-CDL vehicles and a delivery team of over 125 personnel.
  • Develop and implement transportation strategies, best practices, and procedures to enhance performance and align with business objectives.
  • Manage capital and financial planning and execution, taking ownership of the Delivery P&L.
  • Maintain relationships with 3rd party repair and maintenance vendors and approve all repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and local regulations, maintaining high safety standards.
  • Monitor KPIs (costs, service metrics, safety measurements) and develop new ones as necessary, implementing improvements.
  • Lead a group of transportation leaders overseeing specific territories within the state.
  • Mentor, train, and manage transportation professionals, supervisors, and administrative personnel to develop a high-performance team.
  • Provide general guidelines and measurable expectations for staff functioning within the leadership group.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained in accordance with Johnson Brothers/DOT/FMCSA vehicle maintenance expectations.
  • Implement productivity initiatives (PI) to drive financial and operational improvements.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Operations and Corporate Routing and Fleet functions to drive continuous improvement in efficiency.
  • Utilize electronic driver qualification management and fleet safety & ELD software (e.g., Samsara).
  • Drive company culture and engagement within the transportation department and foster interdepartmental relationships.
