About The Position

Anakim Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Databricks Developer to design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade data solutions across mission-critical programs. The role involves analyzing complex data landscapes, prototyping architectures, and delivering resilient software solutions in cloud environments. The developer will also help shape technical strategy by identifying architectural gaps, introducing modern data patterns, and mentoring an engineering team.

The position is remote for candidates who reside in the Washington, DC metro area. An active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) is required to start work. Sole U.S. citizenship is required; dual citizenship cannot be accommodated due to secure-access requirements. The role is full-time W2.

Requirements

• Must currently reside in the Washington, DC metro area.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or systems development.
• Professional experience leading, supervising, or mentoring data engineering teams.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for engaging with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Organizational skills to manage independent and collaborative work efforts.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams and delivering value in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
• Hands-on expertise architecting and developing with Databricks.
• Deep experience building and deploying cloud-native data solutions on AWS.
• Experience establishing test suites, continuous integration workflows, and structured code review cadences.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in Python (PySpark) and SQL programming and query optimization.
• Familiarity or hands-on experience with the Palantir platform.
• Interest in ongoing learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable data pipelines, analytics workloads, and software applications using Databricks on AWS.
• Assess complex business and technical requirements and develop proof-of-concept prototypes during discovery and design phases.
• Conduct peer code reviews, enforce engineering standards, write unit and integration tests, and perform debugging, refactoring, and performance tuning.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve defect reports, data anomalies, and system errors to maintain operational stability.
• Evaluate existing project architecture, identify structural gaps, and propose frameworks or software products to improve performance and maintainability.
• Lead and mentor engineering team members through design, implementation, and delivery, promoting high standards and continuous growth.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical client stakeholders, translating mission objectives into technical roadmaps within an Agile framework.
