About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join the Corporate Technology Operations Platform Front Line team, responsible for delivering high-quality production database support. This role focuses on ensuring rapid and consistent recovery from production incidents across multiple database platforms, minimizing downtime, and maintaining system stability and availability. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in triaging complex incidents, driving automation initiatives, and identifying process improvements to streamline issue resolution. Working in a 12-hour, 7-day rotational support model, the engineer will support Oracle, MongoDB, EDB Postgres, and Yugabyte databases, proactively identifying and resolving issues while adhering to established SLAs. This position requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, a sense of urgency, and a commitment to continuous improvement through automation, runbook optimization, and proactive monitoring. In this role, you will: Provide 12-hour, 7-day rotational production database support for Oracle, MongoDB, EDB Postgres, and Yugabyte as part of the Platform Frontline team. Responsible for triage of production incidents, following the documented triage procedures with urgency and accuracy. Engage in complex or critical database triage and automation initiatives that typically involve multiple database platforms Seek process improvement opportunities to greatly expedite and simplify triage and resolution with highest focus on stability and availability Look for areas to proactively identify, notify and resolve issues using automated workflows based on validated steps in RunBooks or KB articles Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues, align with PFL SLAs to deliver results

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Database administration or support experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of experience in the management of Oracle database support

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools
  • Strong technical and task/timeline-oriented skills necessary to ensure projects are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Experience with Jira and Agile delivery
