About The Position

This role involves installing, configuring, patching, and upgrading various database environments including Oracle Database (12c and 19c), Oracle E-Business Suite (R12), Fusion Middleware (11.x), and Couchbase (7.x). The Senior Database Administrator will also install, configure, and maintain multi-node Couchbase clusters across different environments. A key responsibility is participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support critical database systems and respond to incidents or service requests. The role includes supporting patching, upgrades, and technology stack updates, requiring coordination with application and infrastructure teams. Collaboration with application teams is essential for troubleshooting ERP workflow issues, data inconsistencies, and application performance bottlenecks. The position will also assist in ERP modernization initiatives, migrations, or cloud transformations, and provide DBA support for enterprise releases, infrastructure projects, and production deployments. Support will extend to database environments across on-premises infrastructure and cloud platforms (AWS and OCI). The Senior Database Administrator will troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance, availability, and reliability issues, optimize SQL++ (N1QL) couchbase queries, index definitions, and data models for sub-millisecond latency, and assist with Cross-Data Center Replication (XDCR) for Couchbase. Setting up proactive monitoring and alerting using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Couchbase Operational Watchdog is also part of the role, as is designing and implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Collaboration with development and application teams for database design, schema changes, code migration, and production deployments is expected. Automation of operational tasks using scripting languages like SQL, Shell scripting, awk, and JavaScript, as well as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, and Terraform, is a significant aspect of the role. The position requires reviewing and validating database changes for compliance with standards, maintaining database documentation, and participating in root cause analysis and post-incident reviews. Database backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing using Dell NetWorker and Clumio will also be performed.
