Senior Database Administrator (Top Secret Cleared)
About The Position
ECS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Database Administrator to support a strategic laboratory program for the DOJ FBI Client in Quantico, VA. This role involves enhancing enterprise services and solutions for an FBI component through evaluation, integration, strategy, design, implementation, and operational maintenance. The position is responsible for administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining databases, with a focus on both on-premises solutions like Microsoft SQL Server and cloud-based solutions within AWS. The ideal candidate will be an active contributor to database operations and use technology to continuously improve team performance.
Requirements
- US citizenship with active Top-Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or additional 3 years of experience.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience recommended. In absence of years of experience, certifications or past work may be used to show the level of experience needed to perform at this level.
- Strong proficiency in SQL query writing, query tuning, and performance optimization
- Strong understanding of database architecture and design.
- Knowledge of database security and access controls.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and database query languages.
- Expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience monitoring, performing updates, upgrades, testing, and other associated preventative maintenance and support functions related to Database Platforms
Nice To Haves
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions within AWS.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and database scripts to support enterprise applications and reporting requirements.
- Monitor and tune database performance through query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
- Develop, manage, and continuously improve index management and statistics optimization.
- Develop, design, and support Power BI datasets, ensuring efficient integration with SQL queries, views, and underlying data models.
- Develop and optimize Power BI DAX expressions for advanced reporting and analytics.
- Experienced with design and implementation of complex data structure types and integrations across multiple organizational units.
- Experience with mapping and creating entity relationship diagrams.
- Ensure database performance through proactive query optimization.
