About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Middletown, Rhode Island, to administer, maintain, secure, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments that support business-critical application and data services. The role involves hands-on SQL Server administration and operating databases in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure. Experience supporting AWS database services is a plus.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, data science, information systems, or information technology and at least five years of experience; alternatively, a master’s degree and at least three years of experience.
• Security+, GSEC, SSCP, or an equivalent certification.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Monitor, Azure Backup, Azure Storage, and Azure networking concepts.
• Experience planning or executing SQL Server migrations to Azure.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, or automation tools.
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices for database deployments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
• Strong documentation and process-improvement habits.
• Willingness to learn evolving cloud database technologies.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting AWS database services.
• Practical experience operating databases in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, test, staging, and production environments.
• Monitor database health, availability, performance, capacity, and security, and identify and resolve issues before they affect mission or business operations.
• Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, and version lifecycle management.
• Develop, test, and maintain backup, restoration, high-availability, and disaster-recovery procedures.
