About The Position

Provides advanced database administration across SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL platforms supporting grid and market systems. This 12-month contract role is a hands-on operational delivery resource responsible for complex and standard database work, escalations, and technical guidance to peers as needed. The role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, escalation handling, replication management—particularly Oracle GoldenGate—proactive monitoring and tuning through Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), performance optimization, and disaster recovery execution. The position collaborates with application, infrastructure, and compliance teams and coordinates operational changes within a regulated environment. The role is hybrid, with 2–3 days in the office; remote candidates will not be considered. After-hours support is required for incidents, maintenance, and recovery events as needed. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must pass a background check and drug screening.

Requirements

  • Five to eight years of progressively responsible database administration experience in multi-platform environments involving Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
  • Hands-on Oracle GoldenGate replication administration and proactive monitoring and tuning through Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Experience with advanced troubleshooting, high availability and disaster recovery, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and patching coordination in a production environment supporting business-critical applications.
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation, including Python and shell scripting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

  • Support high-availability and disaster-recovery configurations, including Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, and PostgreSQL streaming replication and high-availability clustering; prepare for, execute, and validate failovers.
  • Monitor, analyze, and tune databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Automatic Workload Repository, Active Session History, SQL Server Management Studio, and PostgreSQL monitoring tools; address query performance, resource contention, and capacity constraints.
  • Execute database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities using Rubrik Cloud Data Management and native backup utilities, ensuring defined RPO and RTO targets are met and recovery procedures are tested and validated on schedule.
  • Plan and execute database patching, security updates, and version upgrades through ServiceNow change management, including risk assessment, testing coordination, rollback planning, and post-change validation.
  • Coordinate schema changes with application development teams, including index optimization, deployment sequencing, and environment refreshes supporting application release cycles.
  • Support database access reviews, least-privilege enforcement, and compliance evidence collection for NERC CIP and SOC audit requirements; provide database-service expertise for compliance assessments.
  • Develop automation using Ansible, Python, shell scripting, PowerShell, PL/SQL, and Transact-SQL, and contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and Git where applicable.
  • Perform assigned database tasks during monthly data center site switchover exercises, coordinating failover execution, replication validation, and post-switchover verification.
