About The Position

StubHub is seeking an accomplished Senior Data Scientist to join its Data Engineering & Analytics team. The role centers on developing and deploying machine learning models that inform business and operational decisions. StubHub’s Data Science team uses statistical and machine learning techniques on consumer data to support data-driven decisions and build business- and customer-facing products, including user-friendly tools and explanations that enable self-service for non-technical users. The Senior Data Scientist will lead the strategy and execution of model development within a business domain, initially leading through influence and potentially later managing a small team of direct reports. The role calls for ownership of models throughout their lifecycle, from design through production, strong engineering practices, and clear communication of complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. The position is hybrid, with three days in the office and two remote, based in New York, NY or Century City, CA.

Requirements

7–11 years of relevant data science or machine learning experience.
Proficiency transforming and analyzing large-scale data using modern cloud computing platforms such as SparkSQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks.
High proficiency with query languages such as SQL.
Expertise in Python or R and numerical and scientific libraries used for statistics and machine learning, such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and scikit-learn.
Experience building production-level models in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders to understand, anticipate, and deliver on their data needs.

Nice To Haves

An M.S. or Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or another quantitative field.
Proficiency in time series modeling, including GAMs, GLMs, and ARs, and real-time forecasting.

Responsibilities

Build and understand modeling in one of StubHub’s areas: Experimentation, Forecasting, Pricing, or Customer Acquisition.
Develop state-of-the-art machine learning models and own them from design through production.
Communicate modeling results to broad technical and non-technical audiences.
Serve as an organization-wide subject matter expert on building predictive models, particularly for forecasting and pricing.
Develop roadmaps with business partners and manage the planning and execution of projects.
Support the growth of junior team members and the data organization through workshops, best practices, and reading groups.
Foster a culture of inclusion, results-oriented execution, open innovation, and creativity.
