About The Position

StubHub is seeking an accomplished Senior Data Scientist to join its Data Engineering & Analytics team. The role focuses on designing and deploying machine learning models that support business and operational decisions. The Data Science team uses statistical and machine learning techniques to build business-facing and customer-facing products, as well as tools and explanations that help non-technical users make data-driven decisions. The Senior Data Scientist will drive the strategy and execution of model development within a business domain, lead through influence and potentially later manage a small team of direct reports, and take ownership of models throughout their lifecycle. The role requires sound engineering practices and the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. It is hybrid, with three days in the office and two days remote, based in New York, NY or Century City, CA.

Requirements

7–11 years of relevant data science or machine learning experience.
Proficiency transforming and analyzing large-scale data using modern cloud computing platforms such as SparkSQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks.
High proficiency with query languages such as SQL.
Expertise in Python or R and numerical and scientific libraries used for statistics and machine learning, such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and scikit-learn.
Experience building production-level models in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
Passion for working with non-technical stakeholders to understand, anticipate, and deliver on their data needs.
Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

An MS or Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or another quantitative field is preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in time series modeling, including GAMs, GLMs, or ARs, and real-time forecasting.

Responsibilities

Build and understand modeling in one of StubHub’s four possible areas: Experimentation, Forecasting, Pricing, or Customer Acquisition.
Build state-of-the-art machine learning models and own them from design through production, communicating results to technical and non-technical audiences.
Serve as a subject matter expert across the organization on predictive modeling, particularly in forecasting and pricing.
Develop roadmaps with business partners and manage and execute projects.
Support the growth of junior team members and the data organization through workshops, best practices, and reading groups.
Foster inclusion, results-oriented execution, open innovation, and creativity across the team.
