Senior Data Scientist
About The Position
SOSi is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join its analytics team on an innovative MLOps workload supporting a government customer in Huntsville, Alabama. The role delivers automation for national security missions and works with petabyte-scale data on supercomputing resources. The position applies scientific techniques to transform data into useful products that enable data-driven decisions, using Scrumban techniques and working closely with end users. The team works with open-source, commercial, and government software packages, including Docker, Python, Jupyter Notebooks, and PostgreSQL. It also leverages GitOps patterns and CI/CD tools such as GitLab and GitHub.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or another quantitative field.
- At least four years of experience as a Data Scientist/Engineer or in an advanced analytical role.
- Programming knowledge in Python or a similar language.
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Knowledge of CI/CD and Agile methodologies.
- Understanding of software design and system integration.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy data science solutions using Python or similar languages.
- Use Linux to develop data-processing and model-deployment solutions.
- Collaborate with data engineers to improve data collection, quality, and access.
- Prioritize tasks efficiently and adapt solutions to meet project requirements.
- Document processes and outcomes for transparency and future reference.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code in Python and other languages.
