About The Position

Concept Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Data Migration Engineer to support a mission-critical application modernization program for a Department of War customer. The role leads complex data migration initiatives and ensures the accurate, secure, and reliable transfer of data between enterprise systems. The engineer will design repeatable migration processes, maintain data integrity, and support successful production transitions in a federal environment. The position is remote and full-time, Monday through Friday, with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern. Work is organized into two-week sprints, with a customer demonstration each sprint. Travel is 0–10% within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance. An active Secret clearance or higher is strongly preferred and may allow an earlier start. The annual base salary is $170,000–$180,000, depending on experience.

Requirements

At least 7 years of experience in data engineering, including participation in at least two production data migrations.
Advanced SQL expertise with PostgreSQL and at least one commercial relational database.
Hands-on experience with ETL tools or Python scripting for data transformation and validation.
U.S. citizenship.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with AWS GovCloud, AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), or comparable migration tools.
Familiarity with records-retention requirements.
Active Secret security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead large-scale data migrations between enterprise systems, including data profiling, mapping, transformation, and reconciliation.
Design and build repeatable, auditable migration pipelines with comprehensive validation reporting and rollback capabilities.
Execute trial migrations, identify and resolve data-quality issues in collaboration with data owners, and support production cutover activities.
Document data lineage, migration methodologies, and key decisions to support audit requirements, knowledge transfer, and operational handoff.
