About The Position

Senior Data Governance Analysts lead complex analysis and problem-solving efforts to improve data quality, support governance objectives, and strengthen business decision-making. The role partners with business, data, technology, and governance stakeholders to understand processes, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver practical solutions to data-related challenges. The analyst works with a high degree of independence and judgment and helps build and maintain confidence in data used across Commercial processes and reporting. The role has no formal people-management responsibilities, but may guide and support less experienced analysts and serve as a subject matter resource.

Requirements

• Experience in data analysis, data quality, business analysis, or data governance within a commercial or financial services environment.
• Understanding of business processes and their relationship to data creation, usage, and reporting.
• Familiarity with data quality concepts, control frameworks, and operational processes.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and develop practical recommendations.
• Ability to organize and analyze large amounts of information and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex assignments from initiation through completion.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
• Experience working effectively in cross-functional environments.
• Ability to communicate complex topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Effective relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ownership and accountability, sound judgment, professional curiosity, and a structured, disciplined approach with attention to detail.
• Focus on practical, business-relevant outcomes and continuous improvement of processes, data quality, and operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data quality issues across business processes, systems, and reporting environments; identify root causes; and document findings, impacts, and recommendations.
• Support prioritization of data quality issues based on business risk and operational significance.
• Apply governance standards, policies, and practices within assigned initiatives and workstreams.
• Partner with stakeholders to clarify requirements, definitions, ownership, and accountability.
• Support governance activities that improve the consistency and transparency of data management practices.
• Analyze monitoring results and control outputs to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Assist in evaluating control effectiveness and operational impact, and contribute to assessments of data quality and confidence.
• Independently manage assigned initiatives, assessments, and analytical efforts; coordinate stakeholders; deliver defined objectives; and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies as appropriate.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and data challenges, translate findings into practical recommendations, and support solutions balancing business needs, risk, and operational feasibility.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and data management practices.
• Contribute ideas, documentation, and lessons learned to improve team effectiveness, and share knowledge with peers.
• Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and support to less experienced analysts as needed.
