About The Position

Awetomaton is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support an existing customer by building and maintaining ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines that support cost analytics and chargeback reporting. In this role, you will design and operate scalable data systems that transform raw data from Kubernetes platforms, AWS, and other internal sources into reliable, well-structured datasets for downstream use.

Requirements

  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines for cloud cost and usage reporting data (AWS CUR 2.0 or similar).
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines for platform usage (Prometheus-style telemetry systems).
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines for customer, organizational, and billing datasets.
  • Strong experience with AWS data stack (Glue, Athena, Lambda, S3, Step Functions).
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, or similar data-centric technologies.
  • Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Step Functions).
  • Experience designing data lake and/or data warehouse structures for cost and financial data.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data quality frameworks, schema evolution, and lineage.
  • Understanding of large-scale, cost-efficient data processing.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Familiarity with data management/governance platforms.
  • Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Analytics).
  • Background in working with federal government, Department of Defense, and/or the Intelligence Community.

  • Design and operate scalable data systems that transform raw data from Kubernetes platforms, AWS, and other internal sources into reliable, well-structured datasets for downstream use.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with peers & decision makers.
  • Demonstrate initiative when faced with limited guidance or ambiguous requirements.
  • Define data standards, data frameworks, and ensure data quality.
