About The Position

Park Lawn Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in data engineering, a passion for data-driven decision-making, and expertise in Microsoft Azure data services using Databricks. This role designs, develops, implements, and optimizes the organization's enterprise data infrastructure. The Senior Data Engineer provides technical leadership in building scalable data solutions that support business intelligence, analytics, reporting, artificial intelligence, data governance, and strategic decision-making across a multi-location funeral home, cemetery, cremation, and corporate services organization.

The position is full-time and primarily on-site, with some work-from-home opportunity. It has direct supervisory responsibilities. Work is generally performed in an indoor office setting, although outdoor duties may involve exposure to weather, uneven ground, dust, gas, or fumes. The role does not require out-of-area or overnight travel. Overtime may sometimes be necessary or required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, business intelligence, or related technical roles.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Spark, and data engineering tools such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Synapse Analytics.
• Experience with the Azure cloud platform and its data services.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures using Azure data services.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure data integrity, quality, and security across Azure data systems.
• Develop and manage ETL processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into Azure data warehouses and data lakes.
• Optimize data workflows for performance and reliability using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and other Azure tools.
• Administer and maintain Azure and on-premises Postgres databases, Azure SQL Database, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, and other Azure data storage solutions.
• Implement data storage solutions that support efficient querying and analysis.
• Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
• Monitor and optimize Azure data systems for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.
• Work with cross-functional teams to support data-driven initiatives.
• Mentor and guide junior data engineers, fostering continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay up to date with data engineering trends and technologies.
• Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance data infrastructure and processes.
