Senior Data Engineer
About The Position
The Senior Data Engineer designs scalable data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and business decision-making across Uline. This role helps modernize the company’s data environment and delivers solutions intended to improve efficiency and business growth across North America. The position is on-site in Waukegan, Illinois. The Senior Data Engineer develops business intelligence and data warehouse solutions, builds data engineering pipelines, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement data warehouse applications. The role also provides technical guidance to Data Engineers and supports high-quality delivery through code reviews, coding standards, and ETL testing. Uline describes itself as a family-owned distributor with over 10,000 employees across 15 locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in data engineering.
- At least 5 years developing enterprise ETL/data integration solutions using Informatica PowerCenter, SSIS, Databricks, or similar technologies.
- Proven experience writing complex T-SQL and performing database performance tuning.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve data issues.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver BI and data warehouse solutions that support Uline’s business growth across North America.
- Help drive data modernization by leveraging Azure, Databricks, and AI automation to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Build scalable data engineering pipelines to enhance enterprise analytics and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and implement data warehouse applications.
- Maintain solution quality through code reviews, coding standards, and ETL testing.
- Provide technical guidance to a team of Data Engineers, promoting best practices and strong performance.
