About The Position

The Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric & Power BI is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the enterprise data infrastructure that powers business intelligence across IP Corporation. This role combines data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence development to transform operational and manufacturing data into trusted, actionable insights. Working closely with the Data Architect and business stakeholders, this individual will develop scalable data pipelines, manage Microsoft Fabric data environments, and create impactful Power BI dashboards that support informed decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is passionate about modern data platforms, industrial data integration, and building enterprise solutions that enable data-driven business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Five (5) or more years of experience designing and supporting enterprise data solutions.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including Data Factory, OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, and related platform components.
  • Advanced experience developing Power BI semantic models, dashboards, reports, and DAX calculations.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience designing relational and dimensional data models.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or similar technologies.
  • Experience integrating data from operational technology (OT) systems including historians, SCADA systems, PLCs, OPC UA, or similar industrial data sources.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within manufacturing, industrial automation, or process manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview or other enterprise data governance platforms.
  • Experience supporting ERP integrations and enterprise business applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience implementing enterprise security, lineage, metadata, and access management strategies.
  • Knowledge of real-time or streaming data architectures.
  • Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Engineering, or Power BI certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that extract data from operational technology (OT) systems, including historians, SCADA systems, PLCs, and OPC UA sources.
  • Build robust ingestion pipelines that support both batch and near real-time data processing into Microsoft Fabric.
  • Land, transform, cleanse, and model enterprise data within OneLake, Lakehouse, and Warehouse environments.
  • Optimize data pipelines for reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance while proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Develop optimized DAX measures and data models that support self-service analytics across the organization.
  • Establish reporting standards, visualization best practices, and reusable reporting assets.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate business questions into actionable analytics.
  • Continuously improve reporting capabilities to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Work closely with the Data Architect to expand and enhance the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain Microsoft Fabric components including Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows, and Pipelines.
  • Support enterprise data governance initiatives, including metadata management, security, lineage, and access controls.
  • Assist with implementation of Microsoft Purview and other governance tools as needed.
  • Ensure enterprise data solutions follow Microsoft Fabric best practices and architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with IT, manufacturing, operations, engineering, and business teams to identify opportunities for leveraging enterprise data.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Support data integration projects involving manufacturing systems, ERP platforms, and other enterprise applications.
  • Document technical solutions, data models, and pipeline architecture to support long-term maintainability.
  • Promote a culture of data quality, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
