About The Position

Mainstay is an AI-native market intelligence company serving the single-family rental industry. Founded within Opendoor, it launched as an independent company in 2024 and recently raised a Series A round led by Khosla Ventures.

As a Senior Data Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will build data products in partnership with data science and product teams. The data engineering work is a customer-facing product, providing businesses in the single-family home market with high-quality data to support underwriting, leasing, vendor management, and other needs. You will help evolve the products, inform the data platform’s architecture, establish engineering best practices, and develop expertise in real estate.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience working in data engineering or software engineering.
• Expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and building data pipelines at scale.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Spark.
• Expertise in cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
• Experience scheduling and operating batch data processing workflows.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or a similar orchestration system.
• Knowledge of data warehouse architecture and Change Data Capture (CDC) modeling techniques.
• Experience with web scraping and extracting data from public or semi-structured sources.
• Experience with AI/ML platforms such as SageMaker, MLflow, or similar.
• Hands-on experience managing data platform infrastructure, with proficiency in tools such as Terraform, Docker, and AWS services.
