About The Position

The Senior Data Engineer applies data strategy to routine business problems, identifies appropriate data sources, performs initial data quality checks, and creates pipelines to extract and transform data. The role translates business problems into data-related or mathematical solutions, recommends approaches to stakeholders, and connects business needs with practical solutions and results. The position contributes to conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including data warehouse and data mart designs. It defines relational tables, keys, and stored procedures; evaluates existing models and databases; develops efficient data flows; and addresses system integration challenges. The role also develops and tests code, creates proofs of concept and test cases, deploys software to production, documents code and playbooks, and provides progress updates. The Senior Data Engineer establishes and documents data governance recommendations, implements practices with business stakeholders and peers, interprets company and regulatory policies, and educates others on governance processes. The role may oversee tasks of less experienced programmers and provide system troubleshooting support. The job is located at 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716. The stated annual pay range is $96,616 to $180,000, with additional annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Requirements

Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field plus 1 year of experience in software engineering or related experience; OR bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field plus 3 years of experience in software engineering or related experience.
Experience translating product vision into product strategy and roadmaps.
Experience conducting end-user research to identify user stories and determine an MVP.
Experience evaluating research and market analysis on industry innovations and technology platforms.
Experience establishing product goals, metrics, and analytics to measure product value outcomes.
Experience leading requirements gathering to gather and validate business needs.
Experience applying Agile methodologies to define user problem statements, use cases, and functional requirements.
Experience documenting requirements using PRD, BRD, epics, features, persona journey maps, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Experience conducting user acceptance testing and product demos in an iterative development process.
Experience designing and implementing RDBMS databases.
Experience using SQL queries and stored procedures to extract database data and perform data analysis.
Experience tracking application progress with JIRA.
Experience documenting product information and providing solutions using Confluence.

Responsibilities

Apply defined data strategy principles to business problems.
Support prioritization of requirements and service-level agreements; identify suitable data sources and perform initial data quality checks.
Extract data from databases and create pipelines to transform data into structures relevant to business problems.
Translate business problems into data-related or mathematical solutions and identify suitable methods and tools.
Recommend solutions for complex business issues, develop business cases with projected return on investment or cost savings, and translate business requirements into projects and tasks aligned with business strategy.
Connect business needs with solutions and identify relevant business insights.
Analyze data elements, systems, flows, dependencies, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Develop logical and physical data models, including data warehouse and data mart designs; define relational tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures.
Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies; develop efficient data flows and propose solutions to system integration challenges.
Create training documentation and train end-users on data modeling; oversee tasks of less experienced programmers and provide troubleshooting support.
Write code for solutions and application features, create test cases and proofs of concept, test code, and deploy software to production servers.
Document code, maintain playbooks, and provide timely progress updates.
Establish, modify, and document data governance projects and recommendations; implement governance practices with stakeholders and peers.
Interpret company and regulatory data policies, educate others on governance processes, and recommend updates to governance policies, practices, or guidelines.
